Joining the Campaign at Rach Writes

I initially resisted joining Rachael Harrie's Platform-Building Campaign, as I was afraid I might be biting off more than I could chew, and I didn't want to end up over extending myself. But as I have read more about the Campaign, and seen so many bloggers signing up and sharing their past experiences as Campaigners, I decided that this opportunity was too good to pass up, and I was sure I would regret it if I let the Campaign come and go without giving it my best shot. So, I'm officially in as of today!

I know there's still a chance I am biting off too much, but I had to remind myself that I felt the same way about the April A-Z Challenge when I signed up for that, and the A-Z turned out to be the best blogging experience I have had so far. So I decided to jump into the fray again, and I am really excited to participate and meet more wonderful bloggers.

Between the Campaign, Alex J. Cavanaugh's Insecure Writer's Support Group, and getting my new blog The Pet Parent Diaries up and running, I know I have my work cut out for me over the next few months. But, I have been in such a slump lately that I think this is just what I need to get back into the groove, and regain the focus and energy I lost over the summer months.

So I want to say a huge THANK YOU to Rachael Harrie, and I am looking forward to connecting with my fellow Campaigners!

  4. Hmm, I may have missed the fine print when I signed up for the Campaign. You say there's lots of work involved? Uh-oh.

Make sure to visit my blog later. I gave you even more work to do. :D

I'm looking forward to the insecure writers group. I need to get the badge up on my blog.

I'm laying low for a bit to get some work done.

  11. Hey Julie, good for you! I heard about that, too, but thought it sounded like way too much for me to handle...at least at this time! Enjoy it!

  12. Hello! I'm in your short story group, so I wanted to stop by and say hello.

    See you around the campaign!

  13. Hi Julie, I'm glad to meet you through the Campaign. I must say, when I saw your About Me photo with dog, and noted your last name, I remembered a movie from my childhood: "Dog of Flanders." Do you know it? It was probably made in the 40s or 50s, and all I remember is that it was a tearjerker. I, too, am an animal lover, with a strong preference for cats. And, when the two felines in my life allow it, I write novels and blogs and grant proposals. (Fortunately, I get paid to write the grant proposals!)

I look forward to reading more of your blogs as the Campaign rolls on.

  14. Hello from a fellow blogging writer campaigner. I'm worried about overextending myself too but it is a risk I feel I need to take. I am looking forward to reading more of your posts as well as going through the blogging campaign with you. Please stop by my blog on Thursday when I will be announcing the launch of an exciting giveaway.

  16. I know what you mean about the slump! I've (hopefully) found my own jumpstart now. At least I'm motivated to keep polishing the old ms and keep researching the new one. That's more than I did last month. *__*

  17. @Myne, hi, it's so nice to meet you as well! I think you are right, we can do it. :)

@Becky, thanks! I hope it's not too much, it would be typical of me to get carried away LOL.

@Michael, hi! Great to meet you and I'm looking forward to checking out your blog.

@Katie, oh, I've never heard of that movie! But now you have me curious, I'm going to look it up. I'm a cat lover as well, and I had to laugh about your felines allowing you to write LOL. Great to meet you!

@DJ, Hello! I feel the same way, I thought I needed to take the risk. I will definitely be visiting your blog, it's great to meet you!

    @Trisha, oh, I didn't know you were a librarian too! I'm glad we're in a group together, that's great.

@Victoria, I'm with you, last month was a wash for me! I hope we can be motivated together, glad you have found some inspiration.

  21. @K, hi, great to meet you! Oh, the critique group sounds like a fantastic idea, I've never been part of a group like that and I think it would be very helpful. Great idea!

  22. Hi Julie, good to meet you! Another Campaigner here, I honestly don't know which group of mine you're in, I joined too many. Now I know better for next time!

I think I'm going to have to check out your Pet Parent Diaries, I definitely fall into the pet parent category! Unfortunately, it's a sad time in that regard right now, I had to say goodbye to a childhood pet today at my parent's house, he's being put down tomorrow because of severe diabetes.

The Campaign is keeping me distracted and the tears at bay, at least a little bit.

Can't wait to get to know you more!

  23. @blackanddarknight, oh, I'm so sorry for your loss! I know how you feel, it's so hard to say goodbye to a beloved pet. Hugs to you!! I'm glad the Campaign is a distraction, I hope that helps you. LOL I signed up for so many groups I am having trouble keeping them straight as well, I think I went overboard LOL. But it will be fun! So great to meet you and I'm really glad we connected. Take care!

  24. Hi Julie

I am definitely in the 'signed up to too many groups" group too! A beginner's mistake I suspect! Still, so lovely to meet lots of new people. I am a mad-cat-woman, who is obsessive about her cats, but also has a gorgeous dog.

  25. Hi Claire! I agree, it is great to meet so many new people. No doubt there are worse mistakes we could have made! LOL about the mad-cat woman. Great to meet you!

  26. Hey Julie, I'm in your suspense/thriller campaign group. Like you, I'm worried I've bitten off more than I can handle, but since I'm just getting started with this personal blog thing, the campaign seemed like exactly what I needed. I'm also a huge dog lover (and animals in general), so I'm glad to have found a kindred spirit.

  27. @Jocelyn, hi, so great to meet you! I'm most interested in suspense and thriller stories, so I'm excited about our group. I feel the same way, I think the campaign is just what I need. Great to find a kindred spirit, I'm looking forward to checking out your blog! :)
