Jury Duty Continues

Just a quick note to say I am still on jury duty this week so I don't think I'll be around the blogosphere much, but I am excited to have several great posts from some of my favorite bloggers lined up for the week.

E.J. Wesley and PK Hrezo are celebrating their cover reveals this week and I'm thrilled to be able to help spread the word about them on Tuesday and Wednesday. I know everyone who sees the covers will love them! In addition, M. Pax will be here on Friday for a guest post about talking to crickets. You'll have to come back Friday to see what she means by that. :D

Also, I'm participating in the big Fall Into Fantasy Giveaway hosted by Ash Krafton and will have a post up for that on Thursday. This is an awesome event with tons of prizes available that will run from 10/17-10/31.

And just like last week, my October giveaway is still going on even though I am not here. Enter below for a chance to win a $10 Amazon gift card and an ebook copy of Polar Night.

Hope everyone has a great week ahead!

  3. I'd definitely be storing up all those details for future novels.

  4. Ooh, I hope it is a juicy murder trial you are sitting on, full of drama you can write about later. :))

  5. @Alex, should be at the end of this week, thanks.

    @Samantha, that would be nice!

    @Annalisa, I hope to get some good ones out of it.

    @LG, LOL, nothing so far but honestly I hope I don't end up on one like that! It would make me so nervous to have to decide something like that. So far though just a lot of waiting around and reading, not that I'm complaining about that. :)

  6. Oh man sorry about the jury duty, Julie. True story: I've been summoned for jury duty more than everyone in my family COMBINED! I don't know why it is, but every 2 years my name comes up. Since I had kids tho, I've gotten out of it... but last year, right before we were headed to Hawaii for a fam trip, I was summoned again during the SAME week of the trip. lol
    My daughter was still 5 by only a week, so I got out of it, but it was the last year for being a parent to children under 5. I've gone for my "duty" so many times and never once been used.
    Thanks for posting for EJ and I this week!! Hope the JD is painless for you!

  7. I was picked for jury duty in a murder case once, but had to ask out because my Masters final was that same day and it was one you couldn't do a make up for. The judge let me go that day, but I had to go back and wait to be called for another case. This one was a civil case - not as interesting, but still good knowledge about how the courtroom works. I hope you get a case soon!

  8. @Pk, oh, you sound like my mom, she used to be called for jury duty ALL the time and it drove her crazy. This is my first time and it's been fine but I also hope I won't have it again for a long while LOL.

  9. @Yolanda, oh, I actually think I'd prefer the civil case even if it wasn't as interesting. A murder case would make me a nervous wreck. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for this week LOL.

  10. My son just got a jury notice. We're wondering if he can work the "chemo" angle to his advantage and get excused! ;) Ahhh-- well, hopefully it's a respite from your normal routine.

  11. I've never gotten picked for a jury, so hopefully it's a somewhat interesting case. Sounds like you've got some great guests stopping by this week; I'll be sure to check them out.

  12. I've gotten several notices and managed to get excused from most of them. I don't mind doing my share of the duty, but in a large city like Houston, getting to the courthouse and back is a huge deal (and I don't like driving downtown). Ugh. If they'd let me serve at some satellite courthouse nearer my home...

    (Are you listening, Powers That Be?)
    :P

  13. Jury duty. Yuck. Good luck.

    Tweeted and shared the giveaway.

  14. @Julie, oh, I hope your son is able to get out of jury duty! If anyone has a good excuse I'd say he does.

    @Michael, thanks!

    @Melissa, yeah, I normally have a really short commute to work so I'm spoiled and this drive is kind of a pain. I hope the Powers listen to you! :D

    @Shelly, thanks for sharing about it!

  15. Enjoy your jury duty. Maybe I'm odd man out here, but I found serving on a jury panel to be fascinating experience, and an honor. (One of the judges even sent me a thank you note afterwards!)

  16. @Susan, oh, that's really cool. I actually think I'm the odd one, LOL. It just makes me nervous, as everything does. :D

  17. Boo! jury duty! :( One of my least favorite ways to kill time. Although, I DO tend to get a lot of reading in when I have to do it, so that's a bonus I suppose.

    Good luck, and thanks again for helping out with my cover!

    Another busy author week. We'll have to come up with some authorly rename of October. Spocktober would be fun, but has nothing to do with writing. lol

    I'm in the Fantasy giveaway too.

  39. We miss you around here! :)

    All that reading time is a good thing but the whole jury duty process and serving on one makes me incredibly anxious, too, so I hear you!
