IWSG Co-Hosting and The 2015 Realms Faire

Hello, all and Happy September!

The end of August has forced me to admit that the summer of 2015 was my summer of slugdom. I didn't accomplish any of my goals and even became a total blog slacker. Nothing for it but to move on and resolve to not be a slug for the rest of the year. I know I made the same resolution about the summer, but this time I'm sure things will work out better. Of course they will, right?

At least I won't be a slug today because I'm busy serving as one of Alex's co-hosts for this month's IWSG meeting. I'm excited to visit more blogs and possibly meet some new group members. My fellow co-hosts are Murees Dupe, Dolorah at Book Lover, Christine Rains, and Heather Gardner. As always, if you'd like to join the group please visit here and add your name to the sign-up list!

Since I've got lots of people to visit I'm going to make this short and sweet, as I don't really have anything to post about for the group anyway beyond my ongoing sluggishness. And I can't chalk that up to insecurity, I think it's just plain laziness.

Alex and the rest of the IWSG team have a HUGE announcement to make today though so I'm going to keep quiet about that and just encourage everyone to visit the IWSG site. I know you won't want to miss the latest news!

I also want to share about the upcoming Realms Faire, which is hosted by M.Pax and is returning for another round in November. I am super excited because this year will be my first time hosting an event here on the blog.

My event is called "Who Roams Here?"and each day a famous ghost from movies or books is going to take over the blog. I'll share clues as to the identity of the ghostie throughout the day and whoever guesses the correct ghost first will win a daily prize. In addition, everyone who makes a guess will be entered into the grand prize drawing at the end of the week.

The Faire will be held from November 9th through the 13th and we will have tons of fun and prizes for everyone who wants to get involved. I am going to be sharing about all of the games and their hosts here on the blog as we move through September and October and get closer to the big event.

To read more about the Faire and to sign up to get involved, visit Mary's site here.

I know we are going to have fun in November!!

  2. Hi Julie - I've been around .. so it's good to be here finally. You've lots of blogging friends to visit today - I see that list and that would make me insecure!!

The announcement is a great one ... and the Realms Faire from Mary always generates a lot of interest .. giving one and all chances to write and meet other authorly friends ...

Cheers for now - and have a happy Autumn - Hilary

  3. Hi,
    Thanks for co-hosting this month.
Realms Faire? I hadn't heard about it so thank for plugging it here.
As for your sluggishness, I think everyone goes through such periods. It usually hits me in December right after NaNoWriMo. My energy is pass zero and lying somewhere in the minus realm.
I usually ride it out and re-energize as Seven says in Star Trek Voyager. So, just let it ride itself out, I'm sure you're going to come back swinging.
    Shalom,
    Pat

Thanks for co-hosting today! It will keep you busy.

  5. Julie, I can relate to the summer slug. Can't write in this heat! But then, I'm a true Canadian girl and thrive in winter. Nice to meet you!

  6. Last year I had a blast at The Realms Faire. I won about 4 prizes...
See you at the November jousts!
Thank you for co-hosting the IWSG today!

  9. Ha! Everyone needs to be a slug sometimes. But you can't be one today! LOL

The Realms faire is cool. I wish I had time to take part in it.

    Thanks for co-hosting. :)

  12. Julie, thanks for co-hosting. Nothing sluggish about that (I know. I did it last month!). Love those ghost stories.

  13. Can't wait until Realms Faire! It's going to be huge this year. I'm happy to be co-hosting with you today. :)

  14. Slugdom seems to creep up in the summer (in its very sluggish way). The ghost thing sounds cool, I'll have to check it out!

    ReplyDelete
  15. Thanks! I found the Realms Faire earlier today and signed up for something. I'm not sure what I'm doing, but I hope it'll be fun when I get there! Thanks for co-hosting the IWSG today :)

  16. Fall is definitely my most productive time. You'll feel better in a month or two. Thanks for co-hosting this month's IWSG.

  17. Thanks for co-hosting, Julie. I understand slackdom. I experienced it last winter. Don't worry about slacking off. I think it's the body's way of saying, PLEASE, A BREAK ALREADY! It's nice that you listened.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Everyone needs a break, and I'll bet you haven't been as sluggish as you make it sound!
Love the Realms Faire idea! I'm in the Joust this year. Looking forward to it!
    Have fun today!
    Happy Reading, and Writing!

  19. Happy IWSG day!

Sorry you didn't get much done this summer. I feel like that, too.

We will do better in the last quarter!

Best of luck for Realms Faire!
    I'll be visiting.

  20. Oh, I forgot to post about Realms Faire today. Yikes.

    Thanks for posting this, Julie!

Best wishes this month for writing!

  21. Realms faire sounds cool. Plus it's over my birthday :)

Hopefully you had a great summer doing everything else outside of writing or blogging. Maybe you needed that break :)

    ReplyDelete
  22. My summer goals didn't get hit either, so don't feel too bad! Thanks so much for co-hosting today! I can't imagine how hard a job it must be! What are there, like over 100 people on the bloghop??

I'll have to check out this Realms Faire thing.. sounds interesting!

  24. I can't take blogging breaks because I likely would never return. We bloggers get into a rhythm of posting, reading, visiting, that is time-consuming but part of our daily routine. Remove it and that space will be filled immediately by--well, something. It's like pulling a dam from a river.

Go get-'em! You can get back into it!

    ReplyDelete
  25. I LOVE that theme for the Realms Faire. You make me want to become a cheese knight for the event. Oh the fun we could have with that!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Love your idea for the Realm's Faire. I'm contributor prizes again this year and might "float" on over here to check out the ghostly clues. Thanks for co-hosting IWSG this month.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Sometimes we all need to be a slacker and have slug months. This summer was your time. Now you can make the fall and winter super productive. :)

Who Roams Here sounds like fun!

    ReplyDelete
  28. I think a lot of people have been a bit sluggish this summer. It's ok to slow down a bit.
    Thanks for co-hosting!

    ReplyDelete
  29. I didn't notice you were a slug, because I was on my own sluggish hiatus.

Love the ghost story idea. How clever!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Hey Julie,

Your ghost host with the most sounds like a fun meme!

Thanks for letting me know about your positive experience from releasing a book the first week of December.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Ooh, neat. You're always good with the ghost stories.

And *waves* from one slug to another. :)

    ReplyDelete
  32. I have been a total blog slug all summer too. I am waiting for that sudden kick in the butt to get back on track but I just want to be at the beach.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Your Realms Faire event sounds awesome, Julie. I'll definitely stop by when I can (I'm supposed to be on vacation then).

    Thanks for co-hosting!

    P.S. it's okay to be sluggish ;)

    ReplyDelete
  34. The Faire is going to be quite the event! I look forward to your ghost-guess posts (I guess that's what you'd call it). Thanks for co-hosting!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Thanks for co-hosting. I love your concept about visiting ghosts. What fun!

    Best wishes,

  36. I'll be visiting again. Thanks for admitting being sluggish. I've fallen inot that category this summer, too.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Thanks for co-hosting, what a great way to get a kickstart into blogging again, huh? I wasn't around during the summer. I don't think many of us were. Next month I'll be back to normal. Maybe. hahaha

    ReplyDelete
  38. Julie, your idea for Realms Faire sounds like a real winner. Looking forward to your posts. And have fun as an IWSG co-host

    ReplyDelete
  39. I love the sound of your ghost game, thanks for hosting :)

    ReplyDelete
  40. Sorry for the sluggishness. Been sluggish myself, here and there, especially in spring and summer. Maybe the warm seasons don’t agree with me and writing. Your event sounds fun and interesting. I wish you luck. And thanks for co-hosting!

    ReplyDelete
  41. I have found that when I make goals and state it out loud i usually come up empty handed. Now I go with the flow. If I put the pressure on myself to post this many times per week or write this or that, I usually fall flat on my face. When I just start writing what i feel like or enjoy, then I seem to blog more. I hate the self-imposed stress. Now I can't wait to figure out what ghosts you will have. I wonder if one of them will be from Harry Potter or maybe Casper?

    ReplyDelete
  42. Don't berate yourself for your 'slugdome'. Everyone needs time to relax once in a while. Thank you for hosting. And what is Realms Faire? I'll have to check it out.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Greetings, Fellow Slug! This summer was awful heat-wise, and I just had no energy, physical or mental, to write. I wouldn't have blogged except that I'm the host of Celebrate and kinda have to... I only have a few chapters left till the end of my book, but I'm not writing them. *sigh* Maybe fall will bring better results. Your RF activity sounds fun! Have a good week!

    ReplyDelete
  44. I too, did not blog on my usual schedule. I am so happy to make the rounds on IWSG today because I'm seeing I am SO not the only one!!! Good luck with the Faire!!!

    ReplyDelete
  45. Thanks for co-hosting! The ghost game sounds like a lot of fun! :)

    ReplyDelete
  46. Thanks for hosting this month. Summers have the same effect on me and I'm blaming the heat. Here's to a cooler more energizing Fall!

    ReplyDelete
  47. Thanks for co-hosting, Julie. Realms Faire sounds like it will be a blast. Sounds as if your slugdom is coming to an end!

    ReplyDelete
  48. The mystery ghost sounds intriguing. Hopefully now that fall is here (sort of, almost here) you'll find your rhythm. I usually do after my kids head back to school. Thanks for co-hosting.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Julie, don't beat yourself up for being a bit lax this summer. Afterall it IS summer or WAS summer. Where'd it go? Now you can buckle down and hit, girl! The Realms Faire sounds like a riot. Now my curiosity is at high pitch and I must check out the big announcement at the IWSG. Thanks for co hosting!

    ReplyDelete
  50. I think being a slug from time to time is necessary. :) Yay for RF! It'll be fun!

    ReplyDelete
  51. It is wonderful co-hosting with you. Don't worry about being sluggish. It happens. I felt like that most of last year. Every now and then we need a break:) All the best.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I've had a hard time settling down to write this summer as well. Maybe we'll both get back into the swing of things. I like the sound of your Realms Faire event!

    ReplyDelete
  53. I think you can call your sluggishness getting ready for all the hosting you're doing. Your famous ghost theme sound intriguing.

    Thanks for co-hosting IWSG.

    ReplyDelete
  54. I love what you are doing for Realms Faire. I hope it's a huge success. :-)

  55. Hard to believe summer is over and I too did not accomplish my writing goals this summer. Now to pull on my big girl boots and get rockin and rollin again. The Realms Faire is a great idea....good luck!

    ReplyDelete
  56. Ooh Julie, the Faire sounds like fun! I'll definitely be around stalking...uh, visiting. I wasn't blogging much this summer either, so don't feel too bad. Thanks for co-hosting this month! Eva

  57. Thanks for co-hosting this month. Sorry you didn't get much done this summer, but I bet it felt good in some ways not to be doing much. I get in moods where I don't want to do much. Anyway, Realms Faire sounds like it will be a lot of fun.

  59. Thanks for co-hosting IWSG, Julie. Once in a while we all become slugs, but we should not do this very often :(

    ReplyDelete
  60. I have also been sluggish this summer, and only posted once in August. Just too much to do in the fresh air.

I enjoyed visiting all the blogs involved in the Faire last year. I won lots of books.

    ReplyDelete
  61. That sounds like a fun event for the Realms Faire! Now that school has started back up, I'm looking forward to being more productive, especially with my novels. I'd like to be through with revisions by April.

    ReplyDelete
  62. That ghostie blog hop does sound like fun. Maybe it will scare you out of your sluggishness!
    Thanks for co-hosting this month.

Thank you so much for co-hosting! You're the best!!! :D

  64. All I can say is be gentle on yourself. Your body knows when it needs a break, physical or mental. If today is a 'slug' day, curl up in a comfy corner and enjoy. Blessings.

    ReplyDelete
  65. At least summer is a good time to be more of a slug toward doing things. Everything seems slower in the summer, but I do hope things pick up in the fall. Your event for the Realms Faire sounds like a lot of fun!

    ReplyDelete
  66. Never heard of this Realms Faire, certainly sounds very interesting.
Same thing for the upcoming blog postings. Sounds like a lot of fun.
You certainly won't be able to be a 'slug' for that.
Keep of all your great work. :)

    ReplyDelete
  67. I never get much done in the summer, either. I'm looking forward to checking out the Realms Faire. It sounds like fun. Thanks for co-hosting this month!

  68. I think it's okay if we don't hit our goals within a time frame as long as we have been able to take a few steps in the right direction.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Looking forward to your mystery ghosts, Julie! Thanks for co-hosting the IWSG, and stop being so hard on yourself. Everyone needs some time off.

    Julie

  70. Thanks for co-hosting this month! I felt the same way about my summer. I had such ambitious goals to try out some new types of posts with my blog and I didn't get very far. Maybe trying one new thing a month is more realistic for me, lol :)

    ReplyDelete
  71. I can relate so well to your summertime sluggishness. It's been hard for me to blog all year, and even art's been a struggle. Good luck resisting that pesky sluggishness for the rest of 2015!

And oh, how exciting about Realms Faire! That "Who Roams Here" event is such a perfect fit for your blog... :)

    ReplyDelete
  72. I love your ghostly posts. I'm feeling sluggish this weekend, but I'm going to get to work today, I think.

    ReplyDelete
  73. I was like that. We moved house, but I still could have done more. Here's to a productive autumn!

    ReplyDelete
  74. I slacked too this summer. I always find it hard to work while the kids are off school and the Hubby's hanging around - it feels wrong to ignore them!

    ReplyDelete
  75. Summertime is the best time to be sluggish :-)

Wow, the realms faire sounds like awesome fun. I wish I could devote time to it! Maybe next year, if I don't start another NaNo project...
