Friday Celebrations & A Release Date for Baby Moo

Happy Friday, all! It's time once again to look back on the week and Celebrate the Small Things. The Celebrate hop is hosted by Lexa Cain and co-hosted by L.G Keltner at Writing Off the Edge and Tonja Drecker at Kidbits. Visit Lexa's blog here to find out how join in the hop yourself and to see the list of participants.

I didn't think I'd end up getting this post written as I have to admit that I haven't been in the mood for celebrating. My dog Clancy had to have surgery for the second time this summer - he tore the ACL in this right back leg in July and then tore the one in his left leg in August. He's been in lots of pain and it breaks my heart to see him having so much trouble. It's also been a serious drain on my bank account! Then to top it off I ended up sick this week and still don't really feel like doing much of anything but crashing on the couch.

But then I remembered that one of the great things about this hop is that it gives us the chance to think of the good things even when we're having trouble focusing on anything but the bad.

So this week I'm celebrating:

1. Clancy is recovering very well and we can see a light at the end of the tunnel. He is set to get his stitches out on Wednesday and I hope that will be the last time he and I see the vet for quite a while.

2. My co-workers very generously came up with a plan to cover for me so that I could relax and focus on getting better this afternoon and tomorrow instead of working as originally scheduled. This is a huge benefit because our university starts school on Monday and this will be a busy weekend there. I was so grateful that they made these arrangements without me even having to ask.

3. I have a release date for my children's book Baby Moo's Great Escape! The book is scheduled for release on September 8 and I can't believe how quickly that will actually be here. I'm not going to put together a full blog tour for this release but I would be so grateful to anyone who would be willing to just give the book a shout-out any time September 8 or later! If you are interested in doing that please just leave a comment and I will send you the info when I have it. Thanks!!

I am going to try to get caught up on my blog reading this weekend, I know I have fallen behind. Hope all is well in your worlds!

  2. Glad Clancy's recovering - it's so hard to watch our pets suffer and not be able to help.

I'll happily give Baby Moo a shout out - I've got a few friends with little kids who might be interested.

  4. Aw, poor Clancy! It's always so scary when a beloved pet needs surgery like that, much less two. So glad to hear he's recovering, though. And that's awful how you've been sick on top of it all, too. Hope you feel better soon!

And wow, that's so exciting about Baby Moo's Great Escape! I would love to give it a shout-out this September, so feel free to email me with the info!

  15. I'm so sorry you have had so much stress and heartache with Clancy. One thing is for sure, Clancy is in great hands and is truly loved which helps in recovery. This may have been what got your immunity down so I'm glad people helped you out at work and I hope you are resting. Congrats on the upcoming release. Now sit back, cuddle Clancy and enjoy a good boom or movie

  20. I'm glad that you and Clancy are on the mend. My dog has been sick and the emergency vet clinic didn't seem to have a diagnosis, but he has slowly gone from throwing up every 15 minutes to every five hours now . . . and he's more active, so I think he's on the mend, too.
Hurray for Baby MOO!! I will definitely help. Please send me an e-mail at tyreantigger@gmail.com and I'll shout out in September, and then host you for a blog guest post in December - if you're interested in a long, late sort of guest tour. :)

  27. I'm so sorry to hear about Clancy....that is rough on your poor doggie and you. I know what you mean about hurting the bank account...our Wallace got a staff infection. His back is shaved and he has to be in quarantine since it is contagious. The vet has no idea how he got this but it could be due to the hot, humid weather. Congrats on the new book, I hope all the help you got made your cold a little easier and that you are feeling a bit better now

  28. I'd be happy to talk about your book release on my blog. It's so tough when pets get sick. There is so much vets can do these days, but it is so expensive. It's hard to make practical decisions when we love our animals so. We will start a medication on our older cat soon to help him with his hyperthyroidism.

    1. Thank you, I will send the release info! I hope the medicine will help your kitty. It's so hard as animals age.

  29. It's hard when our dogs and cats get sick - they don't understand why they have to go to the vet. They just know they don't like it! Checking in from the #CTST blog hop. Have a good rest of the weekend.
