Friday Celebrations & A Release Date for Baby Moo
Happy Friday, all! It's time once again to look back on the week and Celebrate the Small Things. The Celebrate hop is hosted by Lexa Cain and co-hosted by L.G Keltner at Writing Off the Edge and Tonja Drecker at Kidbits. Visit Lexa's blog here to find out how join in the hop yourself and to see the list of participants.
I didn't think I'd end up getting this post written as I have to admit that I haven't been in the mood for celebrating. My dog Clancy had to have surgery for the second time this summer - he tore the ACL in this right back leg in July and then tore the one in his left leg in August. He's been in lots of pain and it breaks my heart to see him having so much trouble. It's also been a serious drain on my bank account! Then to top it off I ended up sick this week and still don't really feel like doing much of anything but crashing on the couch.
But then I remembered that one of the great things about this hop is that it gives us the chance to think of the good things even when we're having trouble focusing on anything but the bad.
So this week I'm celebrating:
1. Clancy is recovering very well and we can see a light at the end of the tunnel. He is set to get his stitches out on Wednesday and I hope that will be the last time he and I see the vet for quite a while.
2. My co-workers very generously came up with a plan to cover for me so that I could relax and focus on getting better this afternoon and tomorrow instead of working as originally scheduled. This is a huge benefit because our university starts school on Monday and this will be a busy weekend there. I was so grateful that they made these arrangements without me even having to ask.
3. I have a release date for my children's book Baby Moo's Great Escape! The book is scheduled for release on September 8 and I can't believe how quickly that will actually be here. I'm not going to put together a full blog tour for this release but I would be so grateful to anyone who would be willing to just give the book a shout-out any time September 8 or later! If you are interested in doing that please just leave a comment and I will send you the info when I have it. Thanks!!
I am going to try to get caught up on my blog reading this weekend, I know I have fallen behind. Hope all is well in your worlds!

Congrats on the upcoming book! If you send me a link I can post it on the big day. Wishing Clancy a speedy recovery.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Yvonne! I will send you the info when I have it.
DeleteGlad Clancy's recovering - it's so hard to watch our pets suffer and not be able to help.
ReplyDeleteI'll happily give Baby Moo a shout out - I've got a few friends with little kids who might be interested.
Yeah, it has really killed me to see Clancy not being able to walk and stumbling around.
DeleteThanks so much for the shout out!!
Sorry about you and Clancy. Yeah, pets aren't cheap.
ReplyDeleteCool you have a release date! I'll mention it on September during the IWSG post. Send me links and cover art and we'll make it happen.
Thanks, Alex! I will send you the info as soon as I have my paws on it. :D
DeleteAw, poor Clancy! It's always so scary when a beloved pet needs surgery like that, much less two. So glad to hear he's recovering, though. And that's awful how you've been sick on top of it all, too. Hope you feel better soon!
ReplyDeleteAnd wow, that's so exciting about Baby Moo's Great Escape! I would love to give it a shout-out this September, so feel free to email me with the info!
Thank you, Heather!! Yeah, this has't been a good summer for Clancy, my poor pup.
DeleteThank you!! I will definitely email.
Hope you feel better soon, Julie. Glad to hear Clancy is recovering. You hae my sympathies for the vet bills. They really can be overwhelming. So happy about Baby Moo! I'll put something on my blogs about him.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Deanie!! I really appreciate the support!
DeleteUgh on all the sickness!
ReplyDeleteYeh for healing and great co-workers and Baby Moo! :)
I really wish this summer would be over already. Sigh.
I do too! I can't wait for fall.
DeleteSorry to hear you and Clancy are not up to par. Take Care. Of course you know I'd love to have you and Baby Moo on my blog!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Cathy! I will send the info. :)
DeletePoor Clancy. I'm glad he's on the mend. You, too. Thank goodness you have such good co-workers to give you an opportunity to rest and heal.
ReplyDeleteOf COURSE I'll give your book a shout-out!
Have a super weekend.
Yay, thank you for the shout out!! I appreciate it. :)
DeletePoor boy... I get it. Hamlet was at the vets almost every week for six months. THANKFULLY, he is almost well. AND Clancy will get through this.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear you are sick... bummer. FEEL BETTER! REST! Keep SMILING.... you have a new book coming out! CONGRATS!!!!!!
Send me whatever... I'll surely do an intro for you... Try to enjoy your weekend...
Aww, I'm so glad Hamlet is doing better. What a rough time you guys have had. Thanks so much about the book and intro - that would be awesome. I'll send it along to you when I have it.
DeleteSo glad you're both on the mend, but so sorry to hear it's been a drain! Clancy is so lucky to have you as his mommy!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to host you and your new book! Just send me the info!
Aww, that's so nice of you to say. I feel so lucky to have him as my pup. <3
DeleteThanks about the book!!
I'm glad to hear Clancy's recovering well, and your co-workers are angels for lightening your load. I'd be delighted to do a feature for Baby Moo on Fri Sept 9. If that's okay, shoot me an email with all the details!
ReplyDeleteSept 9 would be awesome, thank you! I will send the details as soon as I have them.
DeleteGlad Clancy is recovering. Dogs are such faithful companions, I know you must have been so worried about him before the surgery. Congratulations on your coming release of Baby Moo's Great Escape.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I felt so bad for him! Thanks so much for the congrats, I appreciate it. :)
DeleteGood to hear that Clancy's on his way to getting better again. And how nice of your co-workers to help out--being sick is a drag. Hope you feel better soon. I'd love to help shout out about Baby Moo. Just send over an email with the details (tdrecker (at) gmail (dot) com)
ReplyDeleteAwesome, thank you!!
DeleteSounds like you have a lot to be thankful for and congrats on your new book.
ReplyDeleteI do and it's good to remember that! That's why I love this hop. Thank you!
DeleteI'm so sorry you have had so much stress and heartache with Clancy. One thing is for sure, Clancy is in great hands and is truly loved which helps in recovery. This may have been what got your immunity down so I'm glad people helped you out at work and I hope you are resting. Congrats on the upcoming release. Now sit back, cuddle Clancy and enjoy a good boom or movie
ReplyDeleteThat's what I did this weekend and it did the trick. Thanks so much. :)
DeletePoor Clancy! And poor you! Glad to hear you're both recovering. Yay for such thoughtful coworkers! Congrats on your release date! I'd be happy to post a promo for you. Just send me the info and I'll include it in my Friday post that week.
ReplyDeleteOkay, thank you, I will send the info. And thanks for the congrats!
DeleteSo sorry about your dog :( Sending lots of good vibes your way:)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Mark. He is doing much better now.
DeleteYou have some great things to celebrate. Hurray for Clancy and that new book.
ReplyDelete:) :) :)
DeleteI'd be grateful too. Give your dog an ear rub for me. :-)
ReplyDeleteAnna from elements of emaginette
I did and he said thanks! :)
DeleteI'm glad that you and Clancy are on the mend. My dog has been sick and the emergency vet clinic didn't seem to have a diagnosis, but he has slowly gone from throwing up every 15 minutes to every five hours now . . . and he's more active, so I think he's on the mend, too.
ReplyDeleteHurray for Baby MOO!! I will definitely help. Please send me an e-mail at tyreantigger@gmail.com and I'll shout out in September, and then host you for a blog guest post in December - if you're interested in a long, late sort of guest tour. :)
Oh no, I'm sorry your dog was sick, but I hope he is still on the mend. So hard to see our pets ill.
DeleteThank you for the help! I will send you the info and would love to guest in December, thanks!
Glad to hear you and Clancy are on the mend. I've been dealing with sickness too. Congrats on your release date! I'll happily help out. Send the info my way. :)
ReplyDeleteAwesome, thank you. :)
DeleteYay for the release date, though sorry to hear about your dog. That's tough. I'm glad he's improving and I hope he rebounds quickly!
ReplyDeleteHe's making great progress, thanks so much.
DeleteI love it. You do have several things to celebrate. I don't tend to gear my blog toward a younger audience, but I'll totally tweet your release if you'll shoot me the link & info. I'm super stoked for you!
ReplyDeleteThat would be awesome, Crystal, thanks!!
DeleteHi Julie - lots happening, but so pleased Clancy is healing, and hope by now you are too. That's fantastic that Baby Moo's Great Escape is out into the universe ... have fun with it ... and congratulations there .. cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteThank you, Hilary. :)
DeleteCongratulations on your release date...and also for having such cool co-workers. I do too and that makes a world of difference. I'm so sorry to hear about Clancy but I'm glad he's on the mend. Hugs to him.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Elsie. He and I both send hugs back!
DeleteSorry about Clancy, but great that he is doing well. Good for him. Your co-workers are awesome. I would love to help with the shout-out of your new book. Sign me up:) I hope you and Clancy keep well.
ReplyDeleteAwesome, thanks, Murees! I will send the info.
DeleteI'm so sorry to hear about Clancy....that is rough on your poor doggie and you. I know what you mean about hurting the bank account...our Wallace got a staff infection. His back is shaved and he has to be in quarantine since it is contagious. The vet has no idea how he got this but it could be due to the hot, humid weather. Congrats on the new book, I hope all the help you got made your cold a little easier and that you are feeling a bit better now
ReplyDeleteAww, I'm sorry about Wallace! I hope he is feeling better now. Clancy is finally moving more easily, thank goodness.
DeleteI'd be happy to talk about your book release on my blog. It's so tough when pets get sick. There is so much vets can do these days, but it is so expensive. It's hard to make practical decisions when we love our animals so. We will start a medication on our older cat soon to help him with his hyperthyroidism.
ReplyDeleteThank you, I will send the release info! I hope the medicine will help your kitty. It's so hard as animals age.
DeleteIt's hard when our dogs and cats get sick - they don't understand why they have to go to the vet. They just know they don't like it! Checking in from the #CTST blog hop. Have a good rest of the weekend.
ReplyDeleteThat's the thing, I hate that he can't understand why I am torturing him with the vet! Thanks so much for stopping by!
