I'm also celebrating that yesterday was the first day of autumn, my favorite time of the year! Unfortunately it's still ridiculously hot here and I'm grumpy as can be about that, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the cool air will arrive soon. I can't wait for sweater weather.

Baby Moo's Release Day and Celebrations!

Baby Moo and I are back together to share the news of our release day! Doesn't Moo look thrilled? ;)

He may be kind of blase about the whole thing, but I'm thrilled because Baby Moo's Great Escape is officially out in the world today. Yay!

Blurb:

Baby Moo has a dream. He wants to travel the world and sing on the stage of the Sydney Opera House! While he loves his home at Sunrise Sanctuary, it hasn’t been the same since a piglet named Nathan showed up and stole all the attention away from Moo. Jealous of the new baby, Moo decides now is the time to make his escape and pursue his dream.

But the world outside the sanctuary gates is not quite the fun and exciting place Moo imagined, and he quickly finds himself in big trouble. Moo's friends Missy the dog and Ruthie the cat rush to help him, and land in some trouble of their own.

Lost and frightened, Moo and his friends must rely on each other to find their way back home. Will they ever see Sunrise again?

Fundraiser:

I'll be donating $1 to Sunrise Sanctuary for every copy (print or ebook) of Baby Moo sold in September. If you're on Twitter and wouldn't mind sending out a tweet or two to raise awareness about the fundraiser I'd really appreciate it!

Celebrating Baby Moo & Tara Tyler's Cradle Rock

This week's Celebrate the Small Things hop was an easy one for me as I am celebrating that my first ever children's book, Baby Moo's Great Escape, will be out in less than a week now! September 8 is the day. Thanks again to all who have volunteered to help me spread the word by giving the book a shout-out this month.

I'm also celebrating that I actually visited with Baby Moo himself last week when I took a trip to Sunrise Sanctuary. I had such a great time with all the animals! But of course Baby Moo got special attention and he is as sweet as can be. He was gracious enough to take a picture with me while he was hanging out in his barn in order to get out of the hot sun.

I'm glad Baby Moo and I got to be friends!

I'm also super excited to welcome my bookfest buddy Tara Tyler to the blog and share the excellent cover for her new book Cradle Rock. Welcome, Tara!!

Thanks, for helping me with my cover reveal, Julie! I'm excited to see your MG book!

CRADLE ROCK is book two in my Beast World series. In it, there are many beast species. Each fantasy writer adds their own tweaks to traditional fantasy creatures, and today I'm going to tell you about one of mine.

GOBLINS

In Beast World, goblins, pixies, elves, and ogres are the closest to humans. They don't morph into other creatures or have animal appendages. Goblins and pixies are the most intelligent of that bunch, but goblins like rules and order, where pixies are the opposite.

Goblin Origins - from my research, goblins started in European stories during the Middle Ages and most stories depict them as evil or mischievous and dwarf-like with various abilities and dispositions.

Tolkien's goblins - evil, ugly, and wicked creatures!

Rowling's goblins - highly intelligent creatures entrusted to run Gringotts, the wizard bank.

Beast World Goblins - I like the Harry Potter version of goblins. Though my goblins are highly intelligent, they aren't perfect. They're small, green smarties with sass. They like to be in control. They aren't strong, so must use their cunning to provide order to the lesser intelligent masses - very similar to humans in that respect.

How do you picture goblins? What's your favorite fantasy creature?

Welcome to the forest.
Gabe and his girlfriend Ona are headed in opposite directions for Spring Break. After finding out humans might be a real part of their history, Ona is determined to dig up evidence of them in the mysterious mountains at Camp Cradle Rock. Being a logical goblin, Gabe tries to talk her out of it, but there's just no reasoning with a stubborn ogress.

When Ona goes missing, Gabe and his friends fly to Cradle Rock to search for her and discover a village of trouble, igniting an age old war. His physical skills may be lacking, but Gabe won't give up. With the help of his diverse group of friends, he will find a way to save his girl and maybe all beastkind. Humans, bah!

Between Two Fires by Mark Noce

It's my pleasure to showcase Mark Noce and his fantastic new release Between Two Fires on the blog today. I know he must be getting exhausted because I have seen him everywhere in blogland over the past month. Congratulations to Mark!!

Praise from Bestselling Authors for Between Two Fires
“A spirited ride through a turbulent slice of Welsh history!” – Paula Brackston, NYT Bestselling author of The Witch’s Daughter

“A fast-paced read that has a wonderfully visual style and some memorable characters. Mark Noce combines Welsh history with a touch of folkloric magic in this promising debut novel. Lady Branwen is a strong and engaging narrator and the turbulent setting of early medieval Wales makes a fine backdrop for an action-packed story.” – Juliet Marillier, Bestselling author of Daughter of the Forest and Wolfskin

Synopsis of Between Two Fires
Saxon barbarians threaten to destroy medieval Wales. Lady Branwen becomes Wales’ last hope to unite their divided kingdoms when her father betroths her to a powerful Welsh warlord, the Hammer King.

But this fledgling alliance is fraught with enemies from within and without as Branwen herself becomes the target of assassinations and courtly intrigue. A young woman in a world of fierce warriors, she seeks to assert her own authority and preserve Wales against the barbarians. But when she falls for a young hedge knight named Artagan her world threatens to tear itself apart. Caught between her duty to her people and her love of a man she cannot have, Branwen must choose whether to preserve her royal marriage or to follow her heart. Somehow she must save her people and remain true to herself, before Saxon invaders and a mysterious traitor try to destroy her.
