Friday Celebrations

Hello and Happy Friday!!

If it's Friday that means it's time for the Celebrate the Small Things hop. This week I'm celebrating:

1. I had a great time as always with the wonderful Tara Tyler at the Mad Anthony Operation Pumpkin bookfest last weekend in Hamilton, Ohio. We sat outside on Saturday and couldn't have asked for a better autumn afternoon. Best of all, we both sold quite a few books. Can't beat that!

2. The above pic of my poor Clancy was taken in August when he was recovering from surgery for a torn ACL. Just when we thought his troubles were in the past, he tore the meniscus in the same leg a few weeks ago. So he had to have another surgery and, to his total dismay, he had to wear the cone again. But today he is getting his stitches out!! He seems to be doing great, so I am hoping and hoping and HOPING that this will finally be the end of his troubles. Fingers crossed he can go vet-free for the rest of 2016!

3.

Baby Moo's Great Escape is part of the SCBWI Book Blast, which is running until November 18. This is a fun event showcasing hundreds of books for teens and kids, from both traditional and independent publishers. I had a good time making my page for the Blast and I'm excited to be part of it.

4. And speaking of Baby Moo, I'm still celebrating that the book got a five star review from the Readers' Favorite site a few weeks back. The review totally made my day for all sorts of reasons, not the least of which was the fact that the reviewer wrote that the book "teaches a child at a very young age that animals have feelings and need to be nurtured and loved." Everyone who visits here knows how much I love animals, so if my book helps to send that kind of message to a child I couldn't be prouder. If you're interested in the rest of the review just visit the Reader's Favorite site here

What are you celebrating this week? Happy weekend!

The Celebrate the Small Things hop is hosted by Lexa Cain and co-hosted by L.G Keltner at Writing Off the Edge and Tonja Drecker at Kidbits. Visit Lexa's blog here to find out how join in the hop yourself and to see the list of participants

  2. Aw so sorry about Clancy :( I used to work at a vet and I know that can happen and what a long recovery the surgery is. The good news is he can blow out that knee again, right? Plus you met Tara! Lucky you!

    :)

    1. Oh, I've met Tara before and she's the best. We live fairly close and I am lucky to have a buddy to attend the fests with!

If Clancy blows his knee out again I think I will end up in the hospital myself LOL. It's been one heck of a summer!

  4. Oh, poor Clancy! Can you convince him the cone is an early Halloween costume?

Congrats on the wonderful review, and I loved your SCBWI page. I "liked" it. (I about had a heart attack when the thingy started cheering but part of that was because I had my computer's volume turned up because SOMEONE sent me a TWD clip that I had to watch.... ) :o

  5. Congrats on the wonderful review! And selling books. Sounds like a great week. Hope your dog gets rid of the cone soon. Wearing such a thing must be annoying--but perhaps fodder for another book?

    1. He should be able to get rid of the cone today, barring any unforeseen troubles. I think he will go nuts soon if he has to wear it more! Thanks!!

  6. Poor Clancy! Artoo was poorly a couple of weeks ago, and he looked so sorry for himself. Hope Clancy's feeling better now.

  7. Love the name Clancy and he is a black lab that I would hug and hug and hug. It seems to be the year of Dogs having issues. Ours got a staff infection so he had to be quarantined and place on antibiotics and then a blood vessel broke in his ear and filled up so they had to operate and cauterize it so now his one ear permanently droops. So happy for you with the 5 star rating. I am celebrating telling my brother how much he did for me when I was younger and that my mom seemed to be better this week ( she has dementia)

  17. Here's to a vet free year for Clancy - I know what you mean after some of the emergency visits I've had with my lot this year!! Totally agree that teaching children that animals have feelings and need to be nurtured is VERY important so well done on your book and its fabulous reviews stressing this point. Have a wonderful weekend - Special Teaching at Pempi’s Palace
