Hello and Happy Friday, all! I have been a very lazy blogger but when I heard about the We Are The World Blogfest and learned that it only occurs once a month, I thought I would give it a try. Without going into details, I have found the past several months to be emotionally draining and have had to limit my consumption of news. So I love the idea of a fest focused on sharing positive and heart-warming news stories and am excited to join in this month.
My story features one of my heroes, Paul Strasser, the force of nature behind Red Wolf Wildlife Sanctuary. I visited Red Wolf last year and fell in love with the place. Mr. Strasser goes above and beyond every day to rescue and rehabilitate injured wildlife in our area, and often gets bit or scratched for his troubles.
You can watch the story of his latest rescue or read about it at the link below the video. Brooke AKA Liberty, the eagle in question, has done amazingly well since being rescued and is now able to eat on her own and continue recovering in a temporary outdoor enclosure. Depending on her recovery, she will either live out her days at Red Wolf or be returned to the wild.

And just to share a little more sweetness, this is a baby red fox who was found in the middle of a road and is now also recovering at Red Wolf. I don't think she could be any cuter!
The main thing that struck me about Mr. Strasser when I met him was how kind he is. And Red Wolf itself reminds me of a this quote I love from the Dalai Lama.
"Be kind whenever possible. It is always possible."

Sorry that you've been so emotionally drained. Thanks for sharing something positive to start our Friday. Hope you have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteWatch the cute little fox video a few times and that will help you feel a little better - it worked for me. :)
ReplyDeleteAnd that is a wonderful quote, Julie. Thanks for sharing it.
The news, yes. What a wonderful antidote this is. That baby fox is so cute! What a wonderful blog fest. And I love the quote about kindness, too. Kindness really is always possible.
ReplyDeleteMr. Strasser truly is a hero for saving these precious animals. I love the majesty of bald eagles, so it's a bit sad to see one injured. I'm glad he could save her. Thanks for participating in #WATWB this month and sharing your story.
ReplyDeleteLove the story of Mr. Strasser and his work! Thanks so much for sharing this and being a part of our #WATWB crew! :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great story to share. Rescuers and sanctuaries hold a dear place in my heart, and Paul Strasser certainly deserves kudos.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you're participating int #WATWB, and hope the uplfiting stories help nurture your spirits.
That poor eagle - so mean to be attacked by another one. She's so beautiful. I hope she recovers even if she has to stay at Red Wolf. Maybe they'll find an injured male for her. ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing this, Julie!
ReplyDeleteKindness is definitely always possible. :)
It IS alway possible to be kind but it's also a choice.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your post. I love animals. They bring such joy as do people to rescue and care for the wounded.
I hear you on being emotionally drained. At least you still get a blog up. I haven't quite made it that far as yet. I'm working on it!
Hugs!
Love, love that quote!!! So appropriate for everybody in the world. I'm an animal lover and I'm proud to have saved a few feathered friends.
ReplyDeleteTake Care of yourself, Julie!! Will send prayers your way...
Sometimes I think I need a break from the news too. And that is a beautiful eagle! I think it's wonderful to know that there are kind, compassionate people out there who devote their lives to helping animals, especially since most of those animals can't help themselves.
ReplyDeleteThe rescue of these endangered animals certainly demonstrates a caring soul. Thanks for sharing the beautiful photos, also, Julie.
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful animals and what a majestic eagle. Also the quote by Dalai Lama is my favorite.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! Team #WATWB

"Be kind," a great sentiment and one with which I wholeheartedly agree. That eagle is magnificent.
ReplyDeleteGotta love the bald eagle; they're magnificent birds. Thank you for joining up with team #WATWB!
ReplyDeleteThe eagle is such a magnificent creature! Paul Strasser is doing amazing work. I always admire people who actually work with different types of animals/creatures because I think you have to possess that extra-special something...
ReplyDeleteThanks for spreading positivity via this heart-warming story.
I love that Dalai Lama quote - simple, yet profound.

We definitely need more positive things in our lives. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThat red fox is THE cutest :-)
ReplyDeleteRescuers are among my heroes! What beautiful creatures we share our world with, so rescuing and restoring them to their place in it is an honorable undertaking. Loved see the eagle and that adorable baby fox.
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful! And I agree with Vanessa that the fox is absolutely adorable. :)
ReplyDeleteHi Julie - good to see you giving us some animal love - what a lovely story and I sure hope the eagle heals sufficiently to have a happy life even if in the Sanctuary. Wonderful work Red Wolf Wildlife Sanctuary with Mr Strasser are doing ... cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteThanks Julie, this is really lovely. I've always liked wildlife sanctuaries. I have also liked eagles and other raptors. The peregrine falcon is part of the heraldic symbolism of our family surname - Falk. One of the first poems I ever wrote as a young boy was about an eagle. Here is a link to one of our wildlife sanctuaries that also tends to eagles. https://www.zoo.org.au/healesville I hope that Red Wolf Wildlfe Sanctuary lasts well and long. Thanks for joining our Blogfest :) Simon’s Still Stanza #WATWB
