My dad passed away a few days ago and, while it was not a surprise, it is still harder than anything I could have imagined. He was 88 and had a great life, and I was lucky to have him in mine for as long as I did, but it is still so hard to say goodbye.
I'm not sure when I will be back to blogging as writing seems impossible right now, but I want to wish all of you the very best.
Julie, I'm so sorry! My prayers with you and your family.

I am so very sorry to hear of your loss.
ReplyDeleteIt is what I fear most with my mom, who is 86 this year. Although you might not remember, she lived with me for 5 years. My thought was to keep her with me for the rest of her life, but this past winter she moved into assisted living. I miss her a lot, but I see her 3-4 times a week. I know that at some point she won't be in my life at all and it makes me sad.
You have my deepest sympathies.
I'm so sorry, Julie. You and your family will be in my thoughts.

ReplyDeleteDear Julie .. I am so sorry for you and thinking of you - I hope that you had a little while near the end to say those goodbyes - however brief that might have been.
ReplyDeleteWe never say all we should nor asked the questions we'd like to ask ... but we've had the love of our parents for as you say a good while ...
I know I count my blessings for the life I have had with my mother .. and her longevity of life .. it's taking those wonderful memories and weaving tales into them so that they remain fresh in our hearts .. while not worrying about the things left unsaid or undone - love is all at the end .. and you and your father have had a great lifetime together ..
My thoughts are with you .. I'll be thinking of you ...
Cheers Hilary
