I've been meaning to participate in this weekly meme for a while but kept forgetting each week until Wednesday had come and gone. So I'm glad I finally remembered and am able to join in this week.
The meme is hosted by MizB at Should Be Reading and I learned about it from my buddy Susan Oloier's site.
To play along, just answer the following three (3) questions…
- What are you currently reading?
- What did you recently finish reading?
- What do you think you’ll read next?
What are you currently reading?
Before I started watching Game of Thrones on HBO last year I'd never heard of George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire series. I originally thought I didn't want to read the books because I love the show and didn't want it to be spoiled, but I got so addicted to the whole universe that I changed my mind and started reading the books. I'm glad I did, because I'm now on the third book and I love the books even more than I love the tv show. I am obsessed and a total Westeros fanatic now. :)
I was so happy to finally be able to order Carol's In Name Only yesterday, and it's a great read so far.
What did you recently finish reading?
Easily one of the best books I've ever read. I couldn't put it down.
What do you think you'll read next?
I did mention I'm obsessed, right? :D
I'm also looking forward to reading the latest from J.L. Campbell. I loved reading J.L.'s posts about her native Jamaica during the A-Z in April Challenge, and I know I will love her new book as well.
I've been doing a lot of reading this summer, which of course is never a bad thing, and I'm looking forward to participating in this meme and learning about more great books. Thanks to MizB for hosting!
I've had Game Of Thrones on my list to watch on DVD but now I might need to try the books, too! Should I read the books first or watch the show? Does it matter? :)
ReplyDeleteAwesome choices. I still haven't read Game of Thrones, but it looks so great :)

I just finished reading a review copy of Nancy Thompson's upcoming book, The Mistaken. Not sure what I'll tackle next.
ReplyDeleteOh, I have A Game Of Thrones. I keep pushing it a step down from the TBR books. Terrible. I'm going to woman up and start on it soon. I've had the chance to watch the tv series in parts - my children keep popping up inopportune of times while watching so it's been frustrating..haha. I think I'll settle for the books for now.The other books sound interesting as well.
ReplyDeleteI can see I need to check out George Martin's work, lol!
ReplyDeleteI want to read Carol's book too. JL Campbell is a new author to me. I'll be checking out her work as well.
Currently I'm reading How To Construct a Couple, Talli Rolland, and a non-fiction book, The War Of Art, Pressman.

I've heard good things about Martin, I'll have to check him out.
ReplyDeleteAll of these look incredible. I'm definitely going to have to read these!

I'm on feast of crows now. I'm obsessed with Arya and Brienne. After watching series one recently, I ripped them open. Being sick was a great excuse to stay in bed and read a lot.
ReplyDeleteI love Joy's writing and her stories. Glad she has another coming out.
And yay for Carol. I'll have to get her book.
I like this meme-might have to give it a shot. I'm actually reading a really good book right now, Gone Girl, by Gillian Flynn.
ReplyDeleteHave fun with the Martin.
This is a fun meme! I may have to start doing it along with my [Mostly] Wordless Wednesday one. I've heard a lot about George R.R. martin and, now, Game of Thrones, so eventually I need to pick up the first book and try it out.
ReplyDeleteHappy to see Carol and J.L.'s books here!
ReplyDeleteOne of these years I intend to read the George RR Martin books! My WWW:

That is really interesting to me because my husband and I became obsessed with Game of Thrones the show after the first season. I'm a reader, he's not. My brother insists that I read the books which I want to do. I have the first one but keep hesitating to read it. I don't want to read ahead of where my hubs and I are in watching the show because it is something we enjoy together! I'm pretty psyched to hear you enjoy them so much though!
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of this, can anyone take part? I don't know any of the books you describe but particularly like the look of, In Name Only. I've just got to share that I'm reading Defending Jacob by Wllliam Landay at the moment as I think it's truly excellent. Totally absorbing and as expected, so hard to know whether the boy in question is innocent. Hopefully I'll have finished reading it by next Wednesday and I can report back on my own site!
ReplyDeleteWow you've been a busy reader. Great selection of titles.
ReplyDeleteThat pink book looks familiar :) Hope you continue to enjoy.
ReplyDeleteI finished Clarissa Draper's excellent mystery The Sholes Key a few weeks ago. Now I'm reading Rise From Darkness by Ciara Knight. So far it's great! Next, I'm not sure yet. Either Talli Roland's Construct a Couple or Getaway by Lisa Brackmann.
@Madeline, honestly I can't say which I would do first, although the show is definitely easier LOL. I love the books but they are LONG to say the least. If you decide to read/watch let me know, I'd love to hear what you think.
ReplyDelete@Librarysnake, it really is, I love it. Going to check out your link now.
@Alex, oh, I want to read Nancy's book, I hope you enjoyed it.
@Cecilia, LOL, I can imagine your kids make watching the show a little difficult. I think you'll love the books if you get to them! :)
@Sia, I will have to check out Talli's new book, I'm sure it's good.
@Danica, oh, thanks for the link, I will definitely check it out!
@Mary, oh, I wish I was caught up with you, I'd love to chat about the books. I love Arya too, she and Jon are my favorites. They're all such great characters!
@Tim, oh, I just got Gone Girl, I've heard such great things about it and it looks really good. I'm looking forward to reading it.
@Shannon, it is fun, I hope you do join in. And that I remember to do it again LOL.
@Emily, it's so great to be able to read books from bloggers I know, very fun.
@Lisa, I became totally obsessed after the 1st season too, I was so wrapped up in it. I think I might even enjoy the show more now because I feel like I know the characters better now, they're just so well drawn. I hope you will enjoy them too if you decide to read them.
@Jaxbee, oh, I think anyone can take part, I just jumped in when I saw it on another site. I haven't heard of Defending Jacob, I'll have to look that up. I will be curious to see what you think next week!
@Karen, it's good to see another vote for Talli's book, I'll definitely have to check that out. Her writing is so fun.
@Madeleine, it's funny I can't seem to take my nose out of a book lately!
@Carole, I am adding Sholes Key and Ciara's book to my list as well, I've been so behind on blogging I didn't know about those. Thanks for the recommendations!
i'm reading a storm of swords too!
ReplyDeletegreat selection there!
@Tara, oh, I just started it but I love it so far. I'm glad you are enjoying the GoT books too!
ReplyDeleteI'll have to tell my husband about Clash of Kings. We're both huge Game of Thrones fans! I have lots of ebooks from bloggers that I have to catch up on. Julie
ReplyDelete@Julie, oh, I'm glad to find yet another GoT fan! I know what you mean about the ebooks, my list keeps getting longer!
ReplyDelete@Valentina, thanks for the link, I will check it out. Thanks for coming by. :)
I have A Game of Thrones on my Kindle, but I haven't had a chance to read it yet.
ReplyDelete@Cherie, I hope you like it when you get a chance to read it. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm almost done with Clash of Kings. It's good, but it's taking me forever to get through it. Not sure I'll pick up the next one in the series or not. I'm also reading Bring Up the Bodies by Hilary Mantel. Her words are like chocolate melting on the tongue, they're so good.
ReplyDeleteFun!
ReplyDeleteCarol's book is on my TBR list for sure!
I know there's something wrong with me, but I really want to finish Paradise Lost (again) before reading anything else.
ReplyDelete@LG, oh, I've never heard of Hilary Mantel, you have me very curious now.
ReplyDelete@Jennifer, Carol's book is really great.
@Tonja, I don't think there's anything wrong with you!
I just finished the last word on the last page of my new novel and now I'm ready to celebrate by reading some great books. Thanks for the list!
ReplyDelete@Karen, congratulations on finishing, that's awesome! Yay! :)
ReplyDeleteI really like this meme. I stopped for a long while because I was writing and not reading. But I'm so glad I can participate once again.
ReplyDelete@Susan, I'm glad I came upon it on your site, it is a fun one to do. :)
ReplyDeleteI am so interested in what people are reading and why they choose to read the books they do....I have never heard of these authors (gasp!) but would love to take this to the beach..thank you!!!
ReplyDeleteI am your newest follower..pls follow back if you can.
@raising, oh, thanks for the follow and for coming by, it's great to meet you. I will be over to check out your blog, thanks!
ReplyDeleteI'll be glad to see what your reading style is. I read a little of (almost) everything, but my favorite is kid lit. Maybe I am a kid at heart. :)
ReplyDelete@Michelle, I'm like you, I read a little of almost everything too, I just love a good story no matter the genre. Nothing wrong with being a kid at heart! :)
ReplyDeleteJulie, I came across this post through an internet search. Hope you enjoy Distraction when you get to it.
ReplyDelete@Joy, Distractions is still on my TBR list since I got so caught up in Game of Thrones, but I am still really looking forward to reading it! I've no doubt it will be a great read. :)
