If you are familiar with my blog, you know that I am an animal lover. So learning about Alaska was fun for me, because the state is home to 90 species of mammals. Among these are otters, both sea otters and river otters.
I really don't have anything else to write about the otters, as I chose them for my "O" word for one reason only. I think they are absolutely adorable! Can it even be argued? :D
If you're still not convinced, I offer this pic of two otters holding hands.
O turned out to be a hard letter for me this year, but the otters came through. :D
My A-Z theme of Alaska is inspired by my debut novel, Polar Night, which is set in Fairbanks and the Alaskan Arctic. Click here for all the info on the book.
The second pic convinced me they're adorable. Look sat the left otter's face!
ReplyDeleteThey're so cute, they can't be real!
ReplyDeleteAnd the sea otters are really big as well. Just like everything else in Alaska - they're bigger.
ReplyDeleteHi Julie. Nice to meet you. You're right, otters are adorable. Good choice for "o". I'm still trying to think of mine!
ReplyDeleteThis post brought a smile to my face! I saw otters when I was in Alaska and they are just as adorable in real life. :)
ReplyDeleteThose guys are seriously cute!
ReplyDeleteThose little guys are very cute, for sure :)
ReplyDeleteOtters are definitely adorable. We have a nature park nearby that is home to several otters (rescued). I could stand and watch them all day.
ReplyDeleteGreat choice for "O".
Otters are so cute!
ReplyDeleteCover Girls
@Sheena-kay, I know, I love that look. :)
ReplyDelete@Nick, LOL, they do seem like little stuffed animals.
@Alex, I didn't even know that. They fit right in there then, no doubt.
@Darlene, thanks, nice to meet you as well.
@Madeline, oh, I'd love to see them in person.
@Juliet, I agree!
@Mark, no doubt.
@LD, aww, I'd love to go to that park, how sweet.
@Dani and Jax, agreed!
I think I heard a collective "oohhh, so cute!" when I opened this post. :)
ReplyDeleteWords not needed, the cuteness speaks volumes.
ReplyDeleteI don't understand how people can hunt beautiful creatures like these for their skins to make coats. It's horrific.
ReplyDeleteI love watching the otters at the zoo- they are so playful and cute. One of my dream vacations would be to take an educational cruise to Alaska and study the animal life.
ReplyDelete@Emily, :)
ReplyDelete@Elizabeth, at this point in the alphabet, it's nice when words aren't needed!
@Michael, I agree 100%
@Julie, that sounds like a dream trip to me as well.
I love that picture of them holding hands!! It made my morning.
ReplyDeleteNo, it cannot be argued, otters are adorable. We have some river otters at our zoo, and we love checking in on them every so often.
ReplyDeleteawwwww..so cute!
ReplyDeleteThese pics are so adorable!!
ReplyDeleteI am anti-fur. I saw a terrifying video of baby seals being clubbed to death and it tore out my heart. Once you see something like that it stays with you forever.
Awww, adorable ;)
ReplyDelete@Johanna, made mine too when I found it.
ReplyDelete@Tim, I don't think we have any at our zoo. I'd so love to see them in the wild.
@mymy, I agree!
@Isis, oh, I can imagine that video was horrible and upsetting. I totally agree with you.
@SK, so far it's unanimous. :D
They are sooooo cute! Are they cousins to the seals? Something like that?

They are such cute animals, aren't they?
ReplyDelete@Michelle, I don't know, I've never heard that before. Maybe so though. Both are cute! :)

I just squealed like big time in the library. Pretty sure everyone thinks I'm insane.
ReplyDeleteOtters are sooooo cute :D
Otters are so much fun to watch. So playful.
ReplyDeleteThe Omaha NE zoo had a large otter exhibit and it was always so much fun to watch them play. They really are adorable.
ReplyDeleteThey are so so cute! My parents have them in their lake here in FLA and theyre so fun to watch!
ReplyDelete@Vikki, my pleasure!
ReplyDelete@Gina, they are!
@Jamie, yay! :)
@Samantha, LOL. If they could see how cute these otters are they'd understand.
@Carol, yeah, I just love the way they interact with each other.
@Maryann, oh, I bet that was fun.
@Pk, I'm jealous of your parents, how fun.
They are soooo cute! They have them here (Colorado) at the zoo and you can get pretty close and watch them chasing each other and having so much fun.
ReplyDeleteO was hard for me too. I thought I would write about my owl friends, but then the thought of Overcoming came to me. I absolutely adore sea otters. I love the California coast up by Monterrey where there are so many of them.
ReplyDeleteOtters are funny to watch, and so adorable I'd like one for a pet. I don't think it would work, though.
ReplyDeleteI saw an otter once in the wild... up on the WA coast at a place called Desolation Point... I think. They're much bigger than you'd think.
ReplyDeleteAs you say - adorable. I love the way they hold food on their tummies, and their babies.too.
ReplyDeleteOtters are so adorable!
ReplyDeleteyay I do like otters - definitely on today's shortlist
ReplyDeleteI never realized how cute otters were before. These photos really capture them at their best.
ReplyDeleteJulie

What great pictures. Love how cute they are.
ReplyDeleteOtters are being found again in the UK, which makes me very happy!! :)
ReplyDeleteSo unbelievably cute! Gotta love otters!
ReplyDelete@Gwen, I bet they are so fun to watch.
ReplyDelete@Inger, I would love to see those! I was along the coast near San Francisco and saw the sea lions but no otters, wish I had!
@Cathrina, LOL yeah I'd love to have one in my bathtub but something tells me it wouldn't work out too well.
@Mary, how cool! It's funny because they seem almost like the size of a cat in pics but obviously not.
@lizy, I know, they are just too precious and funny the way they float around on their backs.
@Christine, agreed!
@David, how can you not like them? :)
@Julie, they are such funny things and so cute. :)
@Nancy, glad you liked it!

@Sarah, it seems like everyone agrees. :D

@Susan, definitely!
Hi Julie .. presumably you've read the book "Ring of Bright Water" and perhaps seen the film?
ReplyDeleteGavin Maxwell's book ... I saw a clip of him on tv in the last day or two ... and the details stuck - as I've never read the book ..
