Martha's Vineyard Faves and Friday Celebrations

Since this week was my cover reveal for The Ghosts of Aquinnah I decided to finish out the week by sticking with the Martha's Vineyard theme for my Friday Faves. So here are five of my favorite things about the Vineyard.

1. Menemsha
This small fishing village never seems to change, which is one of the things I love about it.

2. West Tisbury
My family's cottage is in this town in the center of the island. The picture below is of the Town Hall and is a good representation of how quaint the town itself is.

3. South Beach
The south shore of the island is open ocean, and I love to sit on the sand and stare out at the horizon and the seemingly endless sea.

4. The Ferry
Since I was a kid, I've loved riding the ferry from the mainland to the island. There's nothing better than standing along the rail of the boat and smelling the sea air. Although since I get motion sickness, I always have to take Dramamine first! :D

5. Lighthouses
While the Gay Head lighthouse which features prominently in my book (and on the cover) is my favorite lighthouse on the island, I love all of them. The picture below is the Edgartown lighthouse at dawn.

Friday means it's also time to Celebrate the Small Things with Vikki at Scribblings of an Aspiring Author.

This week I'm celebrating that I reached a savings goal I set for myself a few years ago. I made some really dumb mistakes regarding money when I was younger and it took me a long time to dig myself out of the hole I created. So it was a great feeling to reach this goal!

I'm also celebrating that I learned about a book festival here in Ohio that is held every May. I'm applying to be part of the 2014 fest and keeping my fingers crossed that I (along with some blogger pals) make the cut.

And just a reminder that my October giveaway is a $10 Amazon gift card and an ebook copy of Polar Night. Enter below!

  42. Thank you for sharing some of your Martha's Vineyard favorites! My fiance and I are going to be getting married there soon! We actually just booked some Martha's Vineyard home rentals for us and a select few guests. It's a bit far from us so we decided to not only get married there, but have our honey moon there as well.We definitely want to spend a lot of time on the beach and visiting the light house. We are considering taking a ferry as well.
