N is for Net Result
The Net Result is, as you can see from the bumper sticker above, an "upper-scale" fish market on Martha's Vineyard.
One of the things most people love the most about the island is the fresh seafood. I've always been in the minority because, for the most part, I hate seafood. The smell of fish markets is enough to make me gag and I always have to wait outside while others go inside the market to buy the fish they want.
But I do love shrimp, and The Net Result has some of the best I've ever tasted. It also has fantastic flounder which is excellent fried.
As fish markets go, I'm a fan of The Net Result. And I was especially grateful for its existence this month because I couldn't think of a post for N to save my life! So thank you, Net Result. :D
My A-Z of Martha's Vineyard theme is inspired by my book, The Ghosts of Aquinnah, which is set on the island. Click here for all the info on the book.

I'm not a fan of seafood, either! Glad the Net Result is a good place for you to go, though, for the few that you do like!
ReplyDeleteI enjoy eating seafood out, but when I've tried to cook it at home? Disaster! Our house once smelled like cod for days. I don't know what I was thinking.

Haha, I'm glad the Net Result saved you today, even if in general it makes you feel a little sick! I LOVE seafood (sorry...) and I love this place! Their lobster rolls are fabulous. YUM.
ReplyDeleteNot always my favorite either, but it would be a shame to go to Martha's Vineyard and not eat seafood.
ReplyDelete@Heather, I'm glad I'm not the only non-fan! :D
ReplyDelete@Madeline, oh I can imagine LOL. There's nothing worse than the smell of fish when it goes wrong.
@Liz, LOL, you and almost everyone else. I honestly wish I did love it, I always feel like I'm missing out when I'm on the island.
@LG, yeah, I wish I could get excited about it like most people do when there.
I find that funny that you grew up in a area known for seafood and you don't like them apart from shrimp:) I LOVE seafood-with melted butter and half the fun is tring to get the meat out of the crab legs...mmmmmmmm fingers all messy-I do not eat very ladylike when I have crab or a full lobster-oh well
ReplyDelete*high five* I'm not a fish fan either. I had plenty of opportunity with outdoorsy family adventures, but there's just something so gag-worthy about the taste of fish. And the smell... *shudders* I'll stick with my cheese.

Like Liz, I'm a seafood lover, but I live in mountain region, which means stuff like shrimp and lobster has to get shipped in. I bet it tastes better on the coast (and is probably more affordable).
ReplyDeleteI love eating seafood, but like you, the smell of a fish market makes me gag!
ReplyDeleteI just had to drop in to give some encouragement and make certain you were still alive - and doing A-Z!
ReplyDelete'The Net Result' is good for 'N', I imagine that there are many nets around those shores.
I'm not keen on all sea creatures, either, and feel sorry for anyone who has to work with fish. I couldn't bear to do all that gutting!
I'm sorry I've missed you but I'm but almost wooooorn out...
THAT is an adorable name for a fish market!
ReplyDeleteYou don't like seafood, but you love shrimp. I may have to reevaluate our friendship. Lol.
ReplyDeleteJulie, I feel so bad for you. Living on the Vineyard and not enjoying seafood. You are missing out, my friend. At least you have shrimp. The name is very creative.
ReplyDelete@Birgit, oh, I didn't grow up on the island, just went for summer vacations. I grew up in Ohio so seafood was and still is a rarity for me - something that doesn't bother me LOL.
ReplyDelete@Crystal, I'm all for cheese at any time or any place.
@Loni, I think everyone says it does taste better, which would make sense.
@Sherry, it's one of the most awful smells on earth to me LOL.
@Fanny, I feel the same, but glad we are both hanging in there! :D
@Nicki, it is clever, isn't it?
@Nana, LOL please still be my friend.
@Inger, oh, I don't live there, if I did maybe I would have grown to like it by now. But I doubt it LOL.
I also HATE the smell of fish markets, so I wouldn't be able to go into The Net Result. But I would sure love all the seafood! :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a cool name for a fish market :)

Hi Julie,
ReplyDeleteI was trawling the internet and I got reeled into your site. What a Net Result.
You are now making me hungry for shrimps. And no fish jokes because I really am starting to flounder.
I shall now skate out of here...
Penny's fictional human,
Gary
@Chrys, you could wait outside in the parking lot with me LOL.
ReplyDelete@Damyanti, it is cute, isn't it?
@Gary, thanks for skating in! Clancy says to tell Penny Hello.
N could have been Need to take Elizabeth with me!
ReplyDeleteI hate the smell of fish too. My husband loves salmon, and I only grill it because I cannot stand the smell in the house.
That's such a clever name for a fish market! You can't forget it, that's for sure.
ReplyDelete@Elizabeth, everyone in my family loves salmon and I can't bear it. Just thinking of the smell makes me a little nauseated LOL.
ReplyDelete@Lee, so true!
I agree that this is a great name for a fish market. Glad that you didn't gag on the shrimp or the flounder!
ReplyDeleteJulie
Unlike you, I enjoy seafood. The smell of the market is a whole nother thing.
ReplyDelete@Julie, I gag on almost everything else LOL
ReplyDelete@Joy, yeah, I think even if you like it the smell must be a bit much sometimes.
Nothing like fresh seafood from the ocean! We have lakes here, but no oceans.

We went to the Cape a lot for summer vacations when I was a kid. The best seafood I've ever had. Yum!
ReplyDeleteIf you are like me, most of this stuff jumps into your head in the middle of the night. I couldn't think of anything with "P." Suddenly, hello! A big "Duh" jumped in my bed at 2 AM...you can read about it (or him) on Friday. Now, don't get all excited... not what might have just jumped into your mind!
ReplyDeleteLOL..
ReplyDeleteFish markets make me gag too...
But I do love ... especially CRAB and I had THE BEST in MARTHA'S VINEYARD... What a coincidence.
I have the same problem with fish - that smell just says "rotting dead thing" to me. But I'm fond of shrimp, crab, and lobster. Perhaps they have less fishy smell and taste than other things...
ReplyDeleteI have to be in the mood for seafood...and that's not often lol And like you, the smell also makes me gag o_o
ReplyDeleteI certainly would never say I love the smell of a fishyard. haha. I don't mind some seafood, but anything that still looks like an animal I'm not going to love at all. My animal food has to be disguised.
ReplyDeleteI love seafood, sadly, I'm also highly allergic to it. Hubby and I were on the beach recently and went to the hotel restaurant, famous for it's seafood. He doesn't like seafood and I can't eat it, so we ordered steak, which was also on the menu. The staff thought we were aliens! LOL
ReplyDelete@Stephanie, thanks, great to meet you too!
ReplyDelete@Mary, I know that's how most people feel about it, I wish I did LOL.
@Inge, it's funny how that happens sometimes, isn't it? Will have to see what you came up with. :)
@Michael, LOL, see crab is one of the worst to me. :D
@Lexa, yes, rotting dead thing sums it up LOL.
@SK, I'm glad I'm not alone at least. :)
@Trisha, yeah, I agree.
@Yolanda, I think that's how people feel when you order steak on the Vineyard too LOL. My brother-in-law is also allergic to seafood and I know it can be a really terrible thing.
